Welcome back to Episode 2 of our Generative AI series! If you missed Episode 1, we explored various text-to-image tools and their features—be sure to check it out to catch up on the previous mentioned tools. Now, let’s get started!
Oh wait, before we dive in, let’s briefly explain what a “prompt” is in the context of AI
What is Prompt?
A prompt is essentially a piece of text that you provide to an AI model, instructing it on what you want to generate—be it an image, text, video, or even music. The quality and clarity of your prompt can significantly influence the output, making it a critical element in working with generative AI tools. Understanding how to craft effective prompts is key to unlocking the full potential of these technologies.
Round 1 rules – prompt (text) to images
Like in Episode 1, I used the same prompt across all the tools to ensure a fair comparison and consistent results.
“Create an image of a serene mountain landscape at sunrise, with a crystal-clear lake reflecting the mountains and the sky. The scene should include a small wooden cabin by the lake, surrounded by pine trees. The colors should be soft and warm, capturing the tranquility and beauty of nature.”
Google DeepMind’s Imagen 3, accessible through Google Gemini, stands as a strong rival to OpenAI’s DALL·E 3 in the text-to-image space. This advanced model generates images with enhanced detail, richer lighting, and fewer distracting artifacts compared to its predecessor, Imagen 2.
It excels in understanding prompts, enabling the creation of a wide range of visual styles and capturing intricate details even from longer prompts. Additionally, Imagen 3 offers improved text rendering and is available for free.
However, a drawback is its large file size. Other technologies from Google DeepMind include Gemini, AlphaFold, Project Astra, VEO, and SynthID.

NightCafe Studio Creator is a free AI art generator offering three styles: NightCafe, Cinematic, and Realistic Anime. However, it struggles with longer prompts and may not generate an image if it is too detailed.

Craiyon, as its cute name suggests, generates images that resemble crayon drawings or watercolor paintings by a school kid—charming and fun! 🎨
No login is required, so you can start creating right away, with style options like Drawing, Photo, and Vector. However, be prepared for a dashboard filled with ads, which can be a bit distracting.

Hotpot AI, true to its name, feels like an AI buffet in a hotpot! 🍲 It offers a wide range of tools, including an AI image generator, AI Headshot (to reimagine yourself), AI logo creation, AI backgrounds, AI anime, AI stock photos, AI photo editing, and social media post generation.
It could be a handy all-in-one tool for graphic designers looking to spice up their creative projects.

Tensor Art is a free online image generator and model hosting site that doubles as an AI model sharing platform. It allows users to run various AI models online to generate images and even train models at no cost.
With a range of AI models available, Tensor Art offers a versatile space for creating and experimenting with AI-driven art. A notable drawback is the huge file size of the images created, which might require additional steps for resizing or compression.

Freepik is a well-known image bank website offering a vast collection of photographs, illustrations, and vector images, providing free graphic resources to designers worldwide.
But did you know it also has its own AI text-to-image generator? With various styles to choose from—like photo, digital art, 3D, comic, cyberpunk, vintage, and more—you can explore your creativity with 20 free images per day.
Just a heads-up, though: the image file sizes are a bit on the large side, so I’m not attaching any here (yep, feeling a bit lazy)!

Artspace AI is an AI art generator packed with designer tools like upscaling, background removal, AI editing (inpainting to modify specific areas of an image), outpainting (to expand your image beyond its original boundaries), and various presets.
There’s a free 7-day trial available, but it requires credit or debit card binding. I haven’t used it yet—too busy.

SeaArt offers 150 free credits and a variety of AI models to choose from, making it a versatile tool similar to Hotpot AI, with multiple functionalities on the dashboard. However, one drawback is the lack of a button to customize the aspect ratio, which might limit some creative flexibility.

Ideogram is a text to image generative AI tool that offers users 10 daily credits to explore its capabilities. It supports a range of styles, including realistic, design, 3D, and anime, making it versatile for different creative needs. One standout feature is its ability to accurately render text, which can be a challenge for many other AI tools. This precision makes it an excellent option for projects that require both visual and textual elements.
The platform is user-friendly, featuring an intuitive web app with handy tools like the Ideogram Editor, allowing users to tweak generated images easily. Additionally, the Remix feature lets you use any image as a foundation to create something new, providing flexibility for further customization. With these built-in features, Ideogram is a solid option for creatives looking to generate visuals without needing extensive design skills.
As a purely text-to-image generative AI, it is impressive.

Getty Images Generative AI stands out as one of the best tools for producing commercially safe and usable images, ideal for businesses needing stock-like visuals. One major advantage is that Getty indemnifies users from any legal claims related to the images it generates, offering peace of mind for those using the images in commercial projects. Access is available through iStock, making it convenient for businesses already familiar with the platform.
However, compared to more creative tools like MidJourney or DALL·E, Getty’s Generative AI is less focused on artistic exploration, which might feel limiting for users seeking more experimental outputs. Additionally, there is no free trial available, with pricing starting from RM70, making it a pricier option for those who want to test before committing.
