Feng Shui (风水), literally “Wind & Water,” is an ancient Chinese practice that studies the relationship between people and their environment to create harmony and balance. It focuses on the flow of Qi (energy) and how natural elements, directions, and spatial arrangements influence health, wealth, and well-being.
Feng Shui refers to the larger environment, the external surroundings, the state of energy, and the overall impact during energy transitions.
What is the 8 Trigrams (八卦)
The 8 Trigrams (八卦) are fundamental symbols in Chinese metaphysics, originating from the I Ching. Each trigram consists of three lines, which can be either broken (yin) or solid (yang), representing the duality of nature.
Understanding 九运 (Jiu Yun) – The 9th Period
The 9th Period, or 九运 (Jiu Yun), spans from 2024 to 2043 and represents a pivotal era in Feng Shui and Chinese metaphysics. Each “运” (cycle) lasts for 20 years, forming a total of nine major cycles.
The 9th Period is governed by the Li Trigram (离卦), which corresponds to the Fire element in the Five Elements theory.
In simple terms, 九运 = 离卦 = 属火. The associated direction for this period is the South 南方位, making it a time heavily influenced by the characteristics of Fire energy.
About Fire Element

What is the 5 Elements 五行
The Five Elements (五行, Wǔ Xíng) are a foundational concept in Chinese metaphysics, representing the cyclical forces that shape the universe. These elements are Wood (木), Fire (火), Earth (土), Metal (金), and Water (水), each symbolizing different aspects of nature, energy, and life processes.
They interact in two primary ways: the generative cycle 相生(e.g., Wood fuels Fire, Fire creates Earth) and the destructive cycle 相克 (e.g., Fire melts Metal, Metal cuts Wood).
The Five Elements are used in Feng Shui, Chinese medicine, and other metaphysical practices to analyze balance and harmonize environments for health, success, and prosperity.
